We returned to Hawaii in 2016 and spent our entire time on the big island of Hawaii because of the mellow atmosphere, great food, and varied landscape. The island of Hawaii has such varied areas such as Waimea where the landscape is so lush and there are many farms and gardens to the lava fields on Kona. We hiked into the park to see the Akaka Falls which are 422 ft high and have a rainbow in the mist at the bottom of the falls and spent an evening on the top of Mauna Kea to watch sunset and then stars at 13,752 ft.
The fish is so fresh on the island and we ate Ahi, Ono (which means delicious in Hawaiian), and Mahi-Mahi almost every day with locally grown vegetables and herbs.
